Gregory R Barden
analogy, dark, death, moon, ocean,
I kneel 'neath the moon, soft-suffused in its beams,
My toes dig through sand, wet and cold as the tide,
Nigh midnite's raw wound I beseech to dark dreams,
Why heaven's heart, sweet, won't move deep inside?
No more do those charms of my faith light my soul,
Though here by the shore I can taste Zion's breath,
So where has the joy gone that once left me whole?
O Calypso come christen your bloom with my death.

child abuse, childhood, death, memory, pain,
spry within the shadows you come
wry amidst the darkness you haunt
i care not what it is you want
why is it my soul you still taunt?
do not taint my mind with your past
you have no power over me
spew your wretched words upon death
strew yourself in its lifeless sea
i'm bloodless of inked memories
chime of childhood pain has bled dry
time has a way to heal old wounds
climb back within your grave and die

appreciation, bereavement, celebration, death of a friend, encouraging, engagement, feelings,

breath has left her body.
left as her spirit roams;
cleft so sadly mine heart embody

Grief grips me grim with her handcuffs invisible,
Chief Cop she may be as she stuffs me in her remand,
Brief barely is her self-proclaimed band of friendship,
Relief absent I am stranded, I can’t anymore stand.
Fired up to free from her shackles I work hard,
Tired and troubled I tackle her with my bag of tricks;
Retired I have no desire to break free from her as I stare
Uninspired with Google results that need a million clicks.
