emotions, grief, introspection, loss, ocean, spiritual, uplifting,
with each crest of a wave
forming white crystal peaks
she weeps, inhales, let's go.
beneath a star studded vista
a resplendent guiding light
arms open, palms up, she is free.
the soothing sea winds
carrying away her grief and sorrow
hands posed in devotion, she smiles.
in a seascape of serenity
her baptism place of choice
she steps forward, her new beginning.

angst, childhood, death, depression, family, father, hope, introspection, life, loss, nostalgia,
Things that seemed poetic were always sad,
though I yearned for sparkle
and my dad's guffaw, which never came.
Familiar things were always drear --
repeated motions in the same old game.
There were only distant glimpses
of budding spring, fleeting views
of daffodils. The strongest
poems dealt me death and dying.
Yet I always hoped, never went under
to gray despair, always dreaming
of a garden of love we could share.
But those forbidden delights faded
quickly away; the only reality
I understand is the ever-looming
and final one. Nothing's changed.
The strongest poems deal death and dying.
bereavement, loss, love,
Walking aimlessly through the woods
Searching for that spot we once stood
Pouring out my heart and my tears
Reliving memories of those special years
Red and orange and purple from green
Rich autumn colors, a sight to be seen
The winds of change quickly blowing in
With it a new chapter will soon begin
Not ready to give up, I can't let go
Where am I headed, where will I blow
Lost without you, what am I to do
Darling, my heart is still beating for you
black african american, death, life, loss, love, sad, teen, girl, girl,
One night a guy & a girl were
driving home from the movies. The
boy sensed there was
something wrong because of the painful
silence they shared between them
that night. The girl then asked the boy to pull over
because she wanted to talk. She told him that her
feelings had changed & that it was time to move on.
A silent tear slid down his cheek as he
slowly reached into his pocket & passed her a folded note.
At that moment, a drunk driver was speeding down
that very same street. He swerved
right into the drivers seat, killing the boy.
Miraculously, the girl survived. Remembering the note, she
pulled it out & read it.
"Without your love, I would die."
daughter, death, depression, father, girlfriend-boyfriend, hope, husband, life, loss, lost love, mother, sad, wife
What makes the decision
To flick the switch
To end ones life
For the sake of it
Bullied at school
Fork in the road
To let death rule
Daughters and sons
What ever affects them
They just can't outrun
Sadness and tears
By all left behind
Will they ever understand
death, friendship, loss,
Chill breath of autumn
Sears the poppy scarlet red,
On his memory'd cenotaph.
Tears trickle in the furrowed
Faces of young comrades
.....now long dead
The soft breeze soughs softly through the tall cypress trees.
I stare at the tomb of my son, so long now dead.
How he loved to sail on gentle summer smooth seas,
How oft I wished I perished and died in his stead.

death, heaven, loss, relationship,
Sitting quietly beneath the old blue gum tree
Flowers surround me lined in neat rows on the lawn
White and blue, tall and short placed as if by gods’ decree
My eyes mist, oh god what she had undergone
Her face clouded in pain, body still as a frightened fawn
The room white, Spartan white sheets drape the bed
Her raven black hair no more, so much left unsaid
Eyes of fierce emerald green now dull and sedate
God let fall tears the day her mortal coil she did shed
Soon again in each others arms, standing at heaven’s gate
loss, me, time,
This solemn shore of atrophy called grief,
would sail on, sail on from this moor of thief -
while yesterday I smiled, and did achieve
today am stricken to a nodding leave!
This buckling of intent, I do perceive
is more than time can counter or receive
do take more time with me and yet proceed
to bolster me - my actions so recede!
What fondness should attain in this bereave,
it is a mocking sign, its own conceive
is born anew, with someone's silenced knave
and never felt so sharply, now its slave!
has manifested to a halting save -
and captured those surrounding . . . . . true love's grave!
absence, death, devotion, grave, loss, miss you, spiritual,
I think about you, every single day,
Since from me, you were taken away,
Your absence has left my world cold,
Now I am alone, with no hand to hold.
I wish that I could bring you home,
So that your soul, shall need not roam,
I hope that you were given white wings,
To fly amongst, where the angel sings.
Within my heart, your eternal breath,
Shall now linger on, even after death,
My love for you shall never cease,
So, may you always rest in peace.

death, hope, inspirational, loss, love,
I wept upon the news deployed
For now within, exists a void
My heart has stopped, it’s turned about
For life with love is now without
Now cast away, the physical form
I await the fate, to be reborn
To one day greet you there, again
The Gates of Heaven then let us in
Hand in hand, we move ahead
As souls permit, though bodies’ dead
A smile to you I then will give
For past our deaths, I know we’ll live
baby, bereavement, child, death, loss, mother, spoken word,
My body is a graveyard.
I buried you inside this defective womb.
I am less than a woman.
My flesh a fertile tomb.
I will never hold you.
My baby is crying.
My baby is crying and no one can hear their haunting wail but me.
Night after night.
Momma loves you.
Inviting this emotional decay,
I am damaged.
My heart is in the ground with you, dear one.
This body betrayed me.
The space between these hips,
Now an empty cradle.
That gentle heartbeat,
I am always with you.
My soul gently rocks you,
As you sleep.
When the fragile heart stops beating,
Are you still called mother?
She looks around the room with worried eyes.
So many things are missing. What became
of all her pretty clothes? With great surprise
she notices her dresser’s not the same.
The fancy music box that held her pearls
is missing too from where it used to sit
beside the picture of her precious girls
there on the dresser. What became of it?
She hears her husband walking toward the room
and cries out as she sees him on the stair.
He lies down on their bed. She feels his gloom,
and then she knows. . . . He cannot see her there!
She lingers, helpless, knowing she must go,
yet hears him sob, “My love, I miss you so.”

death, depression, loss, lost love, love, recovery from..., sad, sympathy
I'm overcome with grief
as I slowly die inside.
They tell me this is normal,
and everything will be alright.
I can't seem to eat a meal,
or close my eyes to dream.
All I visualize is your face,
then accidentally scream.
I can't seem to leave my home,
whats the point anyways?
Without you standing by my side
life is nothing but a waste.
Maybe soon enough I'll join you,
as I slowly die inside.
When I finally enter the gates of pearl
everything will be alright.
grief, loss, love,
Exciting, respecting, valuing,
Dreams of a lasting and satisfying love
Until the day, distracted he crossed a lonely street,
Unexpected mad driver hit my love and
Mangled he slowly died.
emotions, grief, longing, loss, lost love, memory, morning,
In dampened blur of violet dawn
as angels’ weep did touch upon
a mourner’s shoulders mist enshroud -
to soften edges gauzy haze
that hug around these painful days
and mellow memories endowed
in sacred stillness of time gone.
In silent water droplets clear
is beauty precious every sphere
collecting on the silvern spires
midst leaf and scented lavender
reminding me of when we were
devoted in our love’s desires -
each flower holds a lost love tear.

angst, childhood, confusion, daughter, loss, mother, sad, me,
To me, she could've said anything
I wanted so badly to hear her say,
"I love you and I'm gonna try."
But all she said is "I just can't stay."
She looked away, I stared her down.
I needed to see her eyes.
She looked at me and that's when I knew...
THIS IS THE DAY MY MOTHER DIES.
She died right there before me.
I watched her fade away.
Her eyes were glossing over
as I begged her "PLEASE, JUST STAY!"
She said goodbye and drove away.
I've learned to deal with loss.
But, now she says "I'm coming back!"
She doesn't know the cost.
To me she's dead, she can't come back.
She'll have to remember the day
that she died right there before me
when she said she couldn't stay.
death, dedication, grief, loss, love, miss you, sorrow, wife,
If I could will my heart to stop
and breathe a final breath
I'd sit beneath an old oak tree
and trade my life for death
The pain in life of losing you
is more than I can bear
how can a man be happy when
his better half's not there
Life's meaning's gone when I lost you
no purpose can I find
for you were but the reason i
loved life and cherished time
I cannot will my heart to stop
I'm waiting for the sign
from God to show His mercy to
unite us one more time
death, emotions, grief, heartbreak, loss, sad love,
I beseech the shards of my shattered self,
as recollections collect with a jagged edge,
for a softened reflection of a dream in smithereens
to sheath this sunken cheeked shadow
lost in the mirrored fragments
of hollow-eyed tears.

cancer, death, i love you, loss, love hurts, meaningful,
Your soul was being attacked
Meanwhile mine carried bags
Of sorrow, devastation and guilt
For I knew your little body couldn’t handle this
This cancer that sprung up out of nowhere when you were two
But you got your army men and went to work
How strong your little heart was
Bigger than any of those little army men
Nevertheless, your little body didn’t fight forever
How could it?
So I sat you on my lap and told you that it was okay
You died that day.
Every chance I get I say screw Cancer
Fot taking the most precious boy I’d ever laid eyes on.
dark, depression, grief, heartbroken, loss,
Mourning has broken
Mourning has broken...
my spirit and will
Despair I have swallowed...
my bitterest pill
I've never imagined...
my soul needed to purge
So with anguish burning...
I compose this dirge
I've had spectral visions...
haunt me in my dreams
Spinning my meditations...
into nightmarish schemes
My pitiful illusions...
scatter in depth of night
Mourning has broken...
darkness conquers daylight
